Luxurious Silver and Gold Bangle
The luxurious ancient Korean
technique of Kemboo (23ct gold leaf fused on
fine silver) allowed me to experiment
with my abstractionist leanings in this
bangle. I was inspired by the audacious
abstractionist paintings of the 1960s,
where structural abstractionism played with
straight geometrical lines with the strong
help of colour.
To make the surface of the bangle look less
flat, I used acid etching so the surface was
enriched with depth
with the additional help of further
texturing. The result of this labour of love
brought a soft glow of silver with a
generous splash of high carat gold, which
makes this piece of jewellery very elegant
This bangle will fit a medium to
large wrist. To give you an idea, the
measurement of the sheet of silver used
for this bangle 16.5 by 5 cm.
